UPDATE - April 25, 2008
The closure of U.S. 221 just north of County Road 14 in north Taylor County will be delayed until Monday, May 5, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
The one week delay will allow the contractor hired to do the repair work to get all of the materials and manpower available to ensure that the work progresses on an expedited schedule.
The section of U.S. 221 from County Road 14 north for about a mile will be reconstructed to fix a problem with the roadbed. U.S. 221 will be closed to all through traffic from County Road 14 to County Road 360 in Madison County. The detour is about 17 miles long and will add about 11 miles to the normal route.
In June, the work is anticipated to be completed and after this section of U.S. 221 is reopened, plans are to repair about a mile south of County Road 14 requiring this section of U.S. 221 to be closed to all through traffic. |
