STEINHATCHEE COMMUNITY CENTER PARK AND PIER PROJECT
In the very new future the county will be installing a new playground which will have a "Fort" for the kids along with the construction of a new public restroom facility and new picnic pavillion on the grounds of the Steinhatchee Community Center. We will also be making improvements to the adjacent old bridge abutment currently used as a fishing pier. The improvements will include new flooring, increasing the width of the pier, a covered seating and picnic area and handicap accessibility. This project is funded through a Department of Environmental Protection/Florida Recreation Development Assistance grant in the amount of $135,600, a Coastal Partnership through Department of Environmental Protection/National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration grant, in the amount of $38,500, a $12,000 donation from the Steinhatchee Projects Board and $20,000 from the Taylor County Board of County Commissioners.

PALM GROVE MARINA IN STEINHATCHEE
A grant has been obtained through Department of Environmental Protection/Office of Greenways and Trails Program for the possible acquisition of the Palm Grove Marina site. The grant will provide up to $1.4 million dollars for the land acquisition based on the appraised value of the site by the state. The site will serve as a canoe and kayak trailhead and offer connection to the Big Bend Saltwater Paddling Trail and the Florida Circumnavigational Paddling Trail. The site will also offer picnic facilities in a park setting. Adock, deck and boat launch are located on site. Palm Grove Marina is located on the Steinhatchee River.

STEINHATCHEE FISH MARKET
A grant has been obtained through the Department of Coummunity Affairs Florida Communities Trust Program for the acquisition of the Steinhatchee Fish Market. The grant will enable the site to be purchased up to the amount of $6.4 million. The purchase price will be based on appraised value by the state. The state will receive two appraisals from state selected appraisers. This site has a fishing pier with boat slips and in the future will include amenities such as a maritime museum, picnic facilities, playground, trail, hourseshoe pits, bike racks, and parking facilities. It is anticipated the improvements to the site will be funded through various grants. This site will serve as a canoe and kayak trailhead offering connection to the Big Bend Saltwater Paddling Trail and the Florida Circumnavigational Trail.
